Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation (New Formula) | ThePopHeir | Product Review

Rimmel London has done a bold move by reformulating one of their best foundations. I have always been okay with Rimmel Foundations, I have never been truly crazy over any of them. However has this foundation changed my mind?

This reformulated foundation claims to have skin matching. perfecting and protecting properties. It claims to help with dark circles, enlarged pores & discolouration. It contains light-reflecting  & soft focus powders that optically blur imperfections for luminious, mistake proof & 100% poreless finish. It also claims to be able to provide 24hr moisture, SPF20 and Vitamin E. There are currently 8 shades out in the market. It will retail for AUD 18.95 and is Available at Priceline, Target, Big W, Coles, Woolworths and selected pharmacies throughout Australia.

When I was first approached to see if I wanted to try the foundation, I was apprehensive as I had swatched the older formula in store and knew that I did not have a good colour match with the range. However, after some research I learned that the new formula had more neutral shades as compared to the older formula. When I received the foundation, I was pleasantly surprised at the colour match and tone. It was definitely more neutral which meant I could get away using it and the colour was actually slightly darker than my skin. This was not a big deal for me as I can always blend down my neck.

My Experience

I did a first impression's video on the product and I will link it at the bottom of the post.

When I first started using it more frequently, I started to appreciate the foundation a bit more. The pump on the bottle is great, easy to control how much product you want to dispense.
I really liked the coverage, to me it is a medium to medium-full coverage foundation. It blends very well on the skin. I have used a buffing brush and a beauty sponge and both applied the foundation really well. My preferred method is using a beauty sponge. However, I do not think it was good enough to conceal my 5 o'clock shadow. I probably could have gotten away without using a concealer under the eyes as it provided enough coverage. I would not it was invisible on the skin but it did not give a cakey look to the skin. I did notice that without a primer, the foundation helped conceal my pores making them less noticeable.

It dries to a demi-matte finish and I would recommend to set it with a powder as it does have moisturising properties. In terms of wear throughout the day, I felt I needed to blot or touch up with a powder by the 5th hour. I think it looked pretty good still at the 8th hour but with some areas that definitely needed a touch up. When taking photos with flash with this foundation I did not notice any flash back. I believe it is because of the lower SPF in it and as it was slightly darker than my actual skin colour.

Overall

I think this has got to be the best foundation that I have tried from Rimmel London so far. The wake me up foundation was okay and did not blow me away but this foundation definitely has great coverage, better shade range and lasts well on the skin. All the things you really want from a foundation. I recommend this product for those that have dry, normal or combination skin that are looking for a foundation that has great coverage and lasts well on the skin.
