These days knowing what is in your makeup has become essential in many makeup lovers' checklist when buying makeup. Scout Cosmetics has mineral eyeshadows that are vegan and organic which sound appealing those that are very conscious about how their makeup is made. However do they actually work?
Scout cosmetics has a wide range of colours to choose from, ranging from matte to shimmery finishes. They are certified organic and vegan. They claim that they are long lasting and highly pigmented and can be used wet or dry. They currently retail for AUD 29.95 on their website.
My Experience
I have used the shadows a number of times now for short and extended periods of time. I love using the matte shade as a transition colour and the shimmer intensive colours to put some shine on my eyelids. The formula is not too powdery and you do not have product flying everywhere when you use it.
I find that the shimmery shades definitely need a primer or need to be applied wet on to the eyelids. I find that without these the shadows do not last very long on the eyelids. However, with a primer they show up very pigmented and the shimmer stays on all day. I tend to not apply a matte powder base after the primer as it tends to slide off and crease. When I applied it wet, it intensified the appearance of the shimmer and the colour as well. As for the matte shade, I found it lasted well with or without a primer. I believe due to the shimmer particles present in the shimmer shadows, it makes it harder for the shadow to stick to oiler eyelids, like mine.
Overall
I think they are good eyeshadows. They are easy to work with, blend well and are very pigmented. If you prefer using vegan and organic makeup, Scout cosmetics' mineral eyeshadows are they way to go.
