Ecotools has released a brush shampoo. We all know that the brand is very eco-friendly and produces great quality brushes but does this cleanser actually work?
The shampoo addresses common skin concerns when it comes to cleaning makeup brush, providing an all natural solution. The shampoo washes away makeup, oil and impurities from the brushes to improve their performance and give you a smoother makeup application. It is dermatologist tested and hypoallergenic. It is plant based, free of parabens, phthalates and pertoleum-based ingredients.
My Experience
It is very easy to use. I prefer to use it in conjunction with my brush cleaning egg from eBay. I basically wet my brushes, pour a bit of the brush shampoo on the brush egg and then start brushing the brush onto the egg.
It works really well with powder based products. I find that I only need a pea sized product for a large powder brush and it completely removes it all. When it comes to cream or liquid based products like foundations, it does struggle a bit. In particular with long wearing foundations, I have to wash them twice or thrice. However once, it has managed to break down all the foundation the brushes are squeaky clean.
Overall
I think this is a really good brush shampoo that is available at the drugstore. It works well, the bottle is recyclable and the ingredients are natural. If those features are essential for you, you should definitely give this a try. If you live in Australia and would like to try it, it is available at Priceline and the EcoTools website.
