The amazing mascara from Benefit is now available in a few colours. This one is in brown and I am a massive fan of brown mascaras when I am going for a more subtle lash look. The brand has many promises with this mascara but the question is, does it deliver?
I have tried the original black version of the mascara probably only a few times before losing the sample. I do not remember what my thoughts were on the mascara, so I am unable to compare this to the original.
This mascara promises to give dramatic length & volumes, visible lift and long-wearing results. So it is essentially an all rounder type of mascara. The brush is pretty unique and when the original mascara came out, it was probably one of the only brands that had a ball type tip to their brushes.
The formula is not too runny which makes it perfect for short lashes. The brown is warm toned and does not have a fragrance to it.
My Experience
In the photo above I am showing my lashes bare. They are naturally curled and are quite long. What I look for in mascaras is great volume.
In the photo above, I had applied a layer of the mascara to my right eye and it definitely makes a difference. It provided volume, length and lift. I found it provided great definition as well. The ball of the mascara was very helpful in getting my corner lashes coated in mascara. I found the formula tried in less than a minute.
In the photo above, I had applied two coats of the mascara on both lashes. Upon applying the second layer I could see more length and less volume build up on the lashes. I also found that the tips started to clump and began to give my lashes a spider leg appearance. I do not like this so I waited for the formula to dry and then I used a lash comb to brush out the clumps and this is the final result.
I have been using the mascara for at least 3 weeks now and I have yet to see it smudge or flake. I have worn the mascara for at least 6 hours at a time and at times longer than 10 hours and I have not had any issues with it. In terms of removal, it is quite easy I just use my oil based eye makeup remover and it gets the job done.
Overall, I am in love with this mascara as an all rounder dramatic false lash looking mascara. I highly recommend this mascara to those looking to splurge on a great quality mascara. I find that beyond brown is definitely a more day time appropriate colour for me.
