Summer is well and truly here in Australia and my skin sometimes get a bit red from the heat. A nice healthy flush is great but when you want to go for a nude look, sometimes the redness gets in the way. I decided to give this primer by NYX a try.
This primer claims that it is easily absorbed, it creates a smooth canvas for foundation, improves the longevity of the foundation and helps conceal redness in the skin. If you are unfamiliar with the colour wheel, green is opposite red which mean it should help neutralise the colour.
I believe this is the new packaging and it is available at Target here in Australia. It retails for $19.95
My Experience
I have worn this foundation a number of times and can say it does help neutralise the redness in my skin. I usually use this all over the cheeks when I am quite flushed or know that I will be flushed due to the heat later on in the day. It is only a faint hint of green and I feel that it works well with my skin issues. I do find it lessens the redness from spots but it does not completely correct it.
The primer blends smoothly on the skin and does not have a scent. I do find that it provides a nice smooth base for foundation application. However, you only really notice this if you apply your foundation with your fingers or with a brush. As for longevity, I did not really notice much added longevity to my makeup but I did notice that it help keep my face matte for a few extra hours.
I have worn this primer underneath primer when taking photos, both with flash and natural lighting.
Overall
I think this is an overall good primer for those of us looking for a green tinted primer that will help with mild redness on the skin. I feel this primer would work well paired with a medium or fuller coverage foundation to help colour correct and conceal redness in the skin.
