Eyeshadows are wonderful! They can transform a person's look from natural to hot sexy mama. However, they sometimes need a little help sticking on to the skin and not crease like a hot mess. Can this $3 eyeshadow primer really help?



e.l.f. claims that the Essentials Eyelid Primer preps the eyelid for smoother, long-lasting and crease proof eye shadow application. The sheer colour works to increase the longevity of eyeshadow. The primer is a lightweight liquid formula that absorbs quickly into the skin. It is available in four shades, Sheer, Pearl, Golden and Champagne. It retails for AUD 3 and can be bought at Kmart in Australia. 

My Experience

I have got the primer in Sheer and I use it for all times of makeup looks. Whether it be matte, shimmery or a combination of different finishes. I have worn it in hot and cold weather. 

I apply a small amount over my eyelids and sometimes on the lower lashes line. It blends in easily and gives a nice tacky base for eyeshadows. I like to set it with a face powder first and then move on to my eyeshadows. I found that the shadows appeared more vibrant compared to being applied without a primer underneath, I found creasing was very minimal and kept at the deep creases on my eyelid. Longevity was greatly improved. However larger bits of shimmer still kept falling.

Overall

Overall I think this is an amazing eye shadow primer! For AUD 3 it is probably one of the best ones at the drugstore. I honestly feel it compares to the more expensive eyeshadow primers at the drugstore. I highly recommend you give this primer a try if you are on the hunt for an affordable eyeshadow primer.
