Before recently, I have never tried out Middle Eastern food and my friend suggested we check out 40 Thieves & Co. It is one of the recommended must try restaurant according to Trip Advisor. I looked up the menu online and thought they had a pretty delicious selection.
The Restaurant
The restaurant is located at 1/56 Acland Street St. Kilda in Melbourne Australia. As it is along the famed Acland Street, it is very accessible by car and public transport. Tram Route 96 is a short walk away from it.
The restaurant is not very spacious but they have arranged the seating well enough that there is still room to move around. Their outside seating area isn't the biggest but provides patrons a nice view of Aclan street and definitely gives a great alfresco dining, chilled experience. If however, you prefer to keep out of the elements, their indoor seating is much bigger yet still having a cozy vibe. The decoration to the plates are very middles eastern and provide a unique dining experience. (Unfortunately I was not able to take photos of the interior, however I did take some footage of the restaurant in my vlog which should be linked down below once it goes live).
The Menu
The restaurant has a variety of meals to choose from and for those unfamiliar with middle eastern food, the staff are more than happy to explain what each dish is. They also cater to those that have special dietary requirements which I found very impressive as I have not encountered this in many restaurants.
For entrees, my friend and I had the dips served with flat bread. It was delicious and it came with three different dips and the staff was more than happy to provide us with more flat bread.
I ordered the Joojeh Kebab which is grilled marinated chicken fillets with yoghurt, salad and home made flat bread. The portions were decent and very filling. I really enjoyed it, the chicken was still moist, the bread was warm, fluffy and soft. Overall a great dish!
Overall
I highly recommend checking this restaurant out if you are on the hunt for some great middle eastern food in Melbourne. The atmosphere is great, the food is great and the staff are very friendly. I enjoyed my visit profusely!
They also have a website, if you would like to know more about their great restaurant.
