LUSH has just began a new Global LGBT Rights campaign called #GayIsOK. I truly love companies that are passionate and supportive of the LGBT community and LUSH never fails to amaze me with their hard work and dedication to bring awareness to the topic. So I decided to help bring some attention to the campaign as best I can!
As a homosexual man myself, I have seen first hand the inequality in the world when it comes to the LGBT community. I have lived in Hong Kong, the Philippines and now Australia. I can honestly say there is still a lot of inequality in our societies today. To see such well established companies doing their best to help out, gives me a sense of hope that one day all of this inequality will just simply be a memory.
I am very fortunate to have lived and live in countries that being gay is not or no longer considered a crime. However there are at least 76 countries around the wold where it is! It is shocking to hear that in 10 countries, death may be the price you pay for being who you are! This is disgusting!
From the 25th of June to the 5th of July 2015, LUSH shops across the world will ask their customers “What if your love was illegal?”. At least in the countries that it is not considered a crime to do so. This is to bring more attention to the campaign and the equal rights that LGBT people deserve!
To support that campaign the company will be selling these rather fabulous golden soap bars scented with LUSH’s love fragrance. By purchasing the Love soap you are supporting grassroots LGBT groups, fighting for equality all over the world daily, such as All Out! Which as you can imagine can be a risky job in some countries! So let’s support them the best we can!
Just to be specific in the campaign you’ll be helping to do the following
Ending laws that make it illegal to be gay
Protecting all families
Stopping anti-gay and anti-trans discrimination and violence
Letting all people self-identify their gender without fear
Enabling lesbian, gay, bi and/or trans people, and their friends and family, to speak out for equality openly and freely
