CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous

This is one of CoverGirl's latest releases. This foundation says it gives a fresh complexion but with medium coverage? Does it live up to its claim?

In Australia, there are only 4 shades in this range. I have shade 210 which is the second darkest shade. I do like that the foundation comes in a squeeze tube as it makes it easier to get the product out. You get 30mls which is the standard amount you get in most foundations.

The formula is definitely a liquid but it is not runny. It has a very light baby powder scent to it which I find quite calming but it does not linger on the skin for too long. It is quite easy to blend on the skin. I have used my fingers, a beauty blender, a normal makeup sponge and buffing type brushes with this foundation and all blend easily without leaving brush marks or any of the sort.

This foundation is clearly too light on my skintone but I have found ways to make it work. For reference I am currently a NC42 from MAC. However let us focus on the coverage, as you can see it is definitely a medium coverage foundation which can be sheered down to a light coverage. It can also be built up to medium-full coverage without any issue.

My Experience

I have normal type skin with a slightly oily T-zone. When I first received this foundation I was quite happy to see that it has an built in powder system which essentially helps with oil control. I found this to be true at least 4 hours in room temperature with minimal physical activity and with a primer that did not promise any long oil acting oil control. I do not have a problem with its claim as it did not state for how long this control would last.

Another claim of the foundation is that it will give you a fresh complexion despite it being medium coverage. Whenever I would wear this foundation for the day I would only normally wear 1 layer as it is quite light on me. I find that despite the higher coverage my skin still looked skin like. As for the colour mismatch, I do not believe the darker shade would work on me as it isnt significantly darker than this shade and it appears to be more pink compared to this shade. I just dust bronzer on the outer perimeter of my face and it just gives me a highlighted effect to my base. I find that this foundation does set itself but I still use a powder on top to make sure.

Overall, I think this is a really good foundation. The foundation lasts pretty well on my skin for 7 hours with minimal wear around the oily parts of my face. However I find around the 8 hour mark without any touch up the foundation goes down hill. I recommend this foundation to people that are looking for a heavier coverage foundation that still want to retain the "skin" look and I recommend blotting or touching up with a powder at the 6th or 7th hour mark to make the foundation last a bit longer.

Disclaimer: This product was sent to me for review purposes. The company has not influenced my opinion about the foundation in anyway. They did not ask me to make the foundation colour work with my skintone, I simply chose to take it upon myself to see if I could make the foundation work with my complexion.
