Medik8 Glow Oil | ThePopHeir | Product Review

There are so many types of product we can use to hydrate the skin and facial oils are one of them. Medik8 has a dry facial oil that promises to hydrate and nourish the skin. I have never really used facial oils religiously. So has this product managed to convert me?

Medik8 states that this dry facial oil states it will help hydrates dry skin & helps increase elasticity and density. Another benefit is that it helps improve radiance and brightens complexion. With the elegant blend of natural oils it helps restore, hydrate and nourish the skin. It also contains Omega 3 and Omega 6 oils help to repair and protect the skin from environmental damage. This in turn helps minimise the visible signs of skin ageing.

The oil contains the following ingredients:
Vitamin C (1%): lipid soluble vitamin C with excellent antioxidant properties to help neutralise free radicals and minimise the visible signs of skin ageing. This is an oil soluble version of the vitamin making it stable under light.
Hemp seed Oil and Inca Omega Oil: rich in Omegas which are beneficial for the restoration of skin barrier function. Sources of antioxidants and vitamins which contribute towards minimisation of skin damage caused by free radicals
Rose Otto Oil and Cinnamon Leaf Oil : essential oils commonly used in aromatherapy to uplift, nourish and refresh skin.
Geranium Oil: excellent astringent/skin toning and antibacterial benefits. Helps to increase circulation, improving the skin

Medik8 also states that this product is suitable for anyone with normal, dry or sensitive skin and can be used daily. It is light, penetrates easily and is fast-absorbing. As this product does not contain any SPF, it is recommended that a sun cream be applied on top of the oil.

My experience

I have used this product for about 2 months now and I really like. I have normal skin with a tendency to have an oil t-zone every now and then without makeup. I only use this during the day and when I know I am not going to be wearing any makeup. I feel that the oil would cause my makeup to slip and slide through the day.

The oil is very light weight and once applied to the skin, it does not feel like my skin is suffocating underneath. The product comes with a glass dropper which reinforces the feel of it being a professional grade product. I use 8 - 10 drops on freshly cleansed skin. I tend to dot this on my face and then use my fingers to blend it into the skin. I avoid the eye area as it is an oil there is a tendency for it to get into your eye during the day. This has happened to me with contacts in and it is not pleasant!

I usually top it up with a liquid sun screen and I find that it does not affect the blend-ability and feel of the sun screen.  On my skin type, I find that sometimes my skin does not fully absorb the oil at times. I just try and blot the excess with a tissue throughout the day, I suspect I might have just applied a bit too much on that given day. I definitely recommend gauging how dry or how much your skin really needs on that day before applying to avoid this.

Overall

I am very happy with this dry oil! I never really liked using dry oils on the face but this has definitely changed my mind on them. I would not say I am completely sold them because I do prefer moisturising creams but I do not mind this oil as it does contain many amazing ingredients that will benefit my skin in the long run. I definitely recommend you guys trying this product out. If you are interested in trying out this product head over to Medik8's website
