Healthy makeup? A lot of brands are trying to put in a lot of nutrients into their makeup to help protect our skin. Their efforts are praised but sometimes their delivery sometimes fails. Lycogel is finally in Australia and is here to not only provide great coverage but also help nourish the skin.
Lycogel claims that their products are breathable, colour corrective and have technology that help deliver oxygen, moisture and nutrients to the skin. Their product range is formulated for anti-ageing, blemishes, pigmentation, sensitive skin, everyday coverage and for post-cosmetic procedures providing an immediate solution.
Healing nourishing makeup is not new to the market. If you remember a few years ago BB creams were the talk of the town! I am referring to the original BB creams that were created to help product and nourish the skin post dermal procedures. Korea made the BB cream very popular and most of their products still remain true to the original BB creams. Unfortunately, they usually only come in 2-3 shades mostly aimed at fairer complexions. Leaving a lot of people out of the BB cream game.
Breathable Camouflage
This product comes in a plastic bottle that contains 20ml and comes with a pump. Despite being plastic, the bottle does not feel cheap and the colour scheme makes it look fun yet still very clinical. The pump is very precise, you can dispense as much or as little as you desire.
The product comes in 12 shades. Ranging from very fair cool tones to dark warmer tones. Many people should be able to find a shade for themselves. I am in the shade Almond and I am currently a NC42-43 from MAC. The product itself is a gel-mousse like consistency. It is easy to blend using a buffing brush or your fingers, I prefer the latter. It is a buildable foundation, you can get a sheer to medium-full coverage look withouth looking cakey. It hides discolouration, redness and uneven skin tone, however I still found that I needed to colour correct my 5 o'clock shadow with this product. The finish is quite matte but I highly recommend setting it with a powder if you do get quite oily throughout the day.
Breathable Concealer
The product comes in squeeze tube with a narrow nozzle. The tube contains 7.4ml of product. The tube is small and convenient for travel. It is easy to dispense as much or as little product with the packaging.
Unlike the foundation, the concealer is only available in 3 shades. I have the shade in Tan which is their darkest shade. It is quite a yellow based shade which makes it perfect for undereye and overall highlighting around the face for medium complexions. The product itself is of a thick creamy consistency which provides medium-full coverage instantly. Despite it's consistency I found it easier to blend it into my skin compared to the Breathable Camouflage. It dries matte and can accentuate fine lines unless you set it immediately with a setting powder.
Overall Experience
I found both products to be really good. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of coverage I got from both products and despite this amount of coverage I did not look cakey. The overall look and feel of the foundation looked very skin like yet breathable. My acne marks were well concealed using the products and you did not need to apply much to attain this.
I recommend these products for those looking for higher coverage products that also have a lot of benefits for their skin. These products are definitely not drugstore priced but I believe that if you really have a lot of skin issues to take care of, these product would be a great choice.
